Who We Are
ABOUT US
Developing a passion to
love God and love others
Acts 4 Ministries is a nonprofit organization that was established in February 2024 by Benjamin Hoisington and Joy Hoisington. Camps and Churches play a huge role in a Christian life. However, driving across the country many are broken down, abandoned, or sold to non-Christian facilities. We want this trend to turn upside down. The goal of Acts 4 ministries is to help create, sustain, and spread a passion in peoples’ hearts to love God, be loved by God, and to love others by meeting the needs of Christian Camps and Churches.
The vision of Acts 4 Ministries is found in Acts 4:32-34
32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul… 33 And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold.”
There are three important things to note about this passage. Firstly, the believers were all in one accord about the spreading of the gospel and giving testimony about Jesus Christ. Our first objective is for all the camps and churches to be in one accord with the same goal of advancing the gospel; increasing the passion to love God and to love people. Secondly, the believers acted with great power. The power we seek could apply to physical miracles, however, Acts 4 Ministries is focused on the eternal miracle of a transformed life passionate about God. Thirdly, the believers were without need. In the early church this was accomplished through people giving donations, which the apostles allotted according to need. Acts 4 ministries will be funded in a similar way. The objective is to utilize the donations for the good of the churches and camps while at the same time have funds available to withdraw from for all members.
In doing research, of the churches I talked to, less than 50% of churches utilize Christian Camps. They did not understand the need to just get away and retreat from the world . Of the churches that utilize Christian camps, there was not one had any follow up protocols or programs. In reality most Christians have been impacted by Christian camps. A larger percentage of people have made commitments at Christian camps that were broken nearly the first week returning to “the real world”. Our plan is for more churches to utilize Christian camps, and all those churches to be equipped with some after camp/discipleship/follow up program. Our reasoning is simple, we want people to “catch on fire” for God at Christian camps. This fire could be defined by saying a passion to love God and love others. I know most Christians want a contagious “fire” to spread throughout all the churches across America.
Physically speaking, fire requires three ingredients: oxygen, fuel, and heat. Remove one of those ingredients and the fire goes out. Spiritually speaking, “fire” also requires three ingredients: bible, prayer/praise, and Christian fellowship. The after-camp experience (discipleship program) helps to solidify one’s “fire” for God by establishing daily disciplines including the bible, prayer/praise, and Christian fellowship.
In addition to this, fundraising will be a primary activity of all staff. Donations will be our source of revenue. 50% of the money received will be going to help run these two ministries (to book camps and help facilitate the discipleship programs). This 50% will include, but not be limited to, staff salary, marketing, accountant/attorney fees, marketing, travel, etc. The other 50% of the money will be given to a “donation pot”. The donation pot will be available and accessible only to member churches and camps and can be used by them to meet needs. The objective is perhaps a mega church in the west could perhaps fund a small thriving church in the northeast that has needs to expand. With donations being received from all sources, churches and camps in need can utilize the money (with little to no red tape).
